Despite minor setbacks, GBA continued through the Lone Star state and met up with the coolest rock band in the universe while doing it.

Nice job
Nice job replacing the clutch cable. I have never done one myself knock on wood.
So, without the clutch, were you able to switch gears still at certain rpms? Or did you just drive it in whatever gear it was in when it pooped out?

Clutch Driving
Hey TJ,
Well, what we didn't get on tape was a big mess of driving around. The clutch cable snapped while I was shifting into second. I shut the bus off, coasted to the side of a road in the state park we were in. Once we figured out that the cable went, I started the bus in first. Then when I normally shifted into second, I revved the engine a bit higher than usual for a second, and then let off the gas. When I let off the gas I shifted into second. There was a little bit of grinding on the transmission, but I was satisfied with driving slow in second.
A guy I talked to at Austin VeeDub said he drove a bus for two weeks without a clutch. He didn't recommend to do that, but more or less was just telling me that it's possible to do. The fix was really easy, too (Kim and I fixed it). Pull the old cable out, put a new greased one in and connect the cable to a couple places and adjust.
